Image setters can make more than just film for plates. They can also make high precision rulers, though not necessarily extremely accurate ones. The latest ones I have made, shown here, are very slightly off from the presumably more accurate Schaedler rulers, but only about .1mm over a distance of 200mm.

Unlike the Schaedler rulers, I have point divisions for every pica, and on the more finely divided ruler, every .1mm division is numbered for ease of use.
