Beautiful Gorgeous Mary, is a book about strange religious flyers that were put up all over Chicago. The book is a short but long accordion, nearly five feet when extended. It features a rant from one poster paired with images of many posters in various states of decay, two years after they were first put up. I wanted the crudeness of the posters’ construction to be communicated by the crudeness in the method used to represent them—letterpress printed polymer plates made directly from 35mm negatives. The accordion structure of the book allows for the rant to go on without pause while images appear above. The reader’s experience through the book parallels a walker in the city happening upon these strange messages
